Attending & Viewing

Viewing Auction LotsNeither an entrance fee, nor ticket is required to either pre-view items that are for sale by auction, or to experience the actual auction itself, which commences at 10.30am on Thursdays

Goods consigned for sale by auction may be viewed:
   Tuesdays from 2.00pm to 5.00pm
   Wednesdays from 9.00am to 7.00pm
Thursdays, the day of the auction, from 9.00am until 10.25am

Refreshments are not available at the Auction Rooms but there are a number of excellent coffee shops/cafes in the town, most of which are within a few minutes walk

No pre-viewing of goods for Auction will be allowed outside the prescribed hours.

Because the Auction Rooms has responsibility for other peoples’ goods, often including rare and/or very valuable items, children are not encouraged during either viewing or auction days. However, well behaved children, in the care of their parents or guardians, will be allowed in the interests of good customer relations. Please see our House Rules.

Frequently Asked Questions
Click on a question to display the answer
Do I need a ticket/is there an entrance fee to attend and auction?
There is no charge for attending an auction. You are welcome to come and go as you please
May I bring my children to the Auction Rooms?
We would prefer to say "No": but to do so, excludes those who are properly behaved. We have responsibility for other peoples' goods and unruly, irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated from children or adults
When may I view a particular auction?
Goods are on view every Tuesday from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, the following day, from 9.00am to 7.00pm and on Thursdays, before the auction, between 9.00am and 10.25am. The auctions commence at 10.30am on Thursdays
I can only come to an auction if I can bring my infant, in a pram/pushchair - will I be allowed to come in?
There is limited space for pushchairs/prams. If a baby or very young child persistently makes a noise, it is disruptive to proceedings and rather than cause us embarrassment we would prefer that the parent or guardian took the initiative and decided to leave
Is there a list of price estimates?
These are posted at the Auction Rooms and in the on-line catalogues
May I view an Auction outside the prescribed hours?
No.
Are you able to recommend; a furniture restorer, an upholster restorer, a picture restorer?
Yes. Please direct that enquiry to the office
